Have you ever wondered if the problems in your business are due to your own self-sabotage behaviors?
For me, when I sit down with my coach or mentor and start working through something it always comes back to my part in the problem – how am I getting in my own way?
This week after coming back from vacation I’ve had a challenging time connecting back into work. There has been much “procrasti-Facebooking”.
There was a time when this was a lot of what I was doing in my business. I spent days lost in the Facebook rabbit hole.
I know I’m not the only one who this happens to.
Procrastination
When I first started working for myself, I was not much into action. At the time I wasn’t aware of it (and boy do I wish I had hired the right support from the get go) but my past traumas were getting in the way of me actioning things.
There was a part of me that was really scared of the action.
Although my conscious mind wanted the income, and I really thought I was ready, my past traumas had patterned me not to follow through.
Que social media scrolling…
The social media rabbit hole
So one of the things that would regularly happen when I was lost in the social media rabbit hole was FOMO (fear of missing out). There are a ton of fabulous, shiny, exciting offers out in the world.
There are coaches selling the “just buy my course and everything will fall into place for you” solution at every corner and there were a ton of courses vying for my attention.
I felt I needed to further my business, but what I really needed was to focus on healing my trauma so that I could just start doing the work and feeling good about what I was putting out.
Emotional Freedom Technique
I’m grateful for my parents who sent me to therapy at an early age. I mean, in all honesty, I wish there had been less to talk about of course, but I did learn to share my emotions and to connect in deeply to what was going on inside me.
When I found my way to EFT tapping, I was already well on my way in my healing journey.
I quickly discovered that being an entrepreneur magnifies any un-healed traumas like a magnifying glass.
Not a day goes by now where I don’t do my own tapping. Mostly it’s for smaller things now and I always have a tapping coach that I can book in with anytime I need some extra support.
Action
When I found myself spending a bit of extra time on Facebook this week, I didn’t sweat it because I know I’ve done the deep work. It’s okay for me to have a down week here or there.
I know that taking action comes easily to me these days. I also know that every single minute of every day doesn’t need to be productive because I’ve worked through the energy of not feeling worthy unless I am producing.
How did this feel for you?
