Being a heart centered entrepreneur can be challenging and there will be times when you feel disconnected from your business. Sometimes you will also feel disconnected from yourself.
I want to assure you first off, that this doesn’t mean there is anything wrong with you. You are not broken.
There are plenty of reasons that this occurs and there are a myriad of ways you can adjust course.
Why do I feel disconnected?
We live in a very busy society. I remember the first time I had this conversation with someone at a party in my 20’s. She was telling me where she worked that everyone was always “very busy”. Socializing in corporate life was when you would meet in the elevator or at the water cooler. Asking someone how they were doing was almost always met with the answer “oh very busy, very busy indeed.”
In my house the message was very clear – you are only valuable when you are DOING something. Better yet – DOING many things!
To hear our inner voice, it is imperative that we take time to slow down.
But for most of us, we need to first rework the program that says we are only valuable when we are producing something or DOING something.
DOING More
The first goto when we feel disconnected is often a search on the internet – what can I buy that will help me feel more connected, maybe I need a course, what is the answer? If I hustle harder I can avoid this sensation of disconnection.
Have you ever done that? How did it feel for you? Were you able to realize where you had gone astray?
Meditation
I’m a huge fan of meditation, but it took me a long time to be able to sit still and BE with myself. For the longest time, yoga or hiking in the woods was my meditation – I had to move to feel safe with my mind.
Acknowledging this and allowing myself to be this way was the first step to healing for me.
For many empaths and HSP’s who grew up in a house like mine, stillness can be hard to handle.
Often others make it look easy (and it might be for them). When we compare ourselves, it is a sure-fire way to feel disconnected.
The journey to meditation is never about increasing our personal shame or beating ourselves up about not doing it right – it is a gift to be able to honor exactly where you are in any given moment.
EFT Tapping
I use tapping daily. It is a regular part of my own meditation practice. Some might say that’s not really meditation but I call BS on that.
EFT Tapping helps me slow down and connect to my subconscious mind in a way that my nervous system feels comfortable with. It allows me to feel safe and secure while noticing what my inner landscape is telling me – because the answers are always within us.
When we are in that constant state of DOING, it can feel nearly impossible to stop. Many of us must burn out or have a health crisis before we are ready to listen.
I want something better for you.
